Dry Brushing for Lymphatic Flow: How to Do It
Dry brushing is old, simple and pleasant. It is also frequently done too hard, which turns a gentle habit into an irritating one.
How to do it
- Use a natural-bristle brush on dry skin, before you shower.
- Start at the feet. Sweep upward in long, light strokes toward the heart.
- Move to the hands and sweep up the arms toward the shoulders.
- Use circular strokes on the stomach. Keep it light throughout.
- Three to five minutes is plenty. Shower afterwards.
The two mistakes
Pressing too hard, and brushing away from the heart. Lymph vessels sit just under the skin, so light pressure in the right direction does more than firm pressure in the wrong one.
